My name is Asende known as Lyama, I am the founder and director of faulu productions.

Faulu Productions is a non-profit community-based organization working to strengthen the livelihoods of Refugees and host communities through education, agriculture, Skills for Life, conservation of the environment, and other community projects. It was founded in Kakuma refugee camp on the 30th of June 2015 by refugee youths from the DRCongo, Somali, and Sudan. We are officially registered and recognized by the government of Kenya through the Ministry of East African Community, Labor, and Social Protection with the registration number (CO/TRKW/CDO/HC 2434).


Faulu Productions dreams of the 21st century where everyone can influence decisions in the society that contribute for positive social change. At Faulu Productions, we envision a world where every child has access to quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential. We believe that education is a fundamental human right and that it is essential to promote this right through advocacy, access, and community-based initiatives.


Located in the arid desert of northwestern Turkana County in Kenya, Kakuma Refugee Camp is a human holding facility where people have traveled from over 17 different countries for respite and safety. Built to provide humanitarian relief and protection until a durable solution can be found for those seeking asylum, the Kenyan government planned the design with the intent to be short term. The camp was set up in 1992 and has grown year on year. It is currently home to close to 200,000 people.


Our Programs

- Education: ECDE Program for children from the Ages of 3 to 6, Adult change maker courses including Peace Building and Conflicts resolution, Leadership, computer training, Social Entrepreneurship, and Economics for Positive Change.


-Livelihoods: under this project, we run various life skills training including Micro-Finance activities where we teach vulnerable women entrepreneurship skills and then later provide them with loans for the running of the business for self-employment, life sustainability, and agri-business training(providing them with seeds, tools and teach them permaculture elements.


-Environmental Cleanliness and Trees Planting: under this project, we collect solid waste materials that are later recycled for the fabrication of reusable products or assets, then we plant trees for global warming reduction.


-Children welfare and girls at risk: this project aims at ensuring that children are treated fairly and provided with their basic needs for their well-being, we also conduct some training for teenage ladies about human reproductive health sessions and advise them to avoid undesirable pregnancies, etc https://fauluproductions1.org/


In Turkana and refugee camp, women and girls face several challenges related to Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR),gender equality,family planning and financial literacy.These challenges include:

1. Limited access to healthcare: Women and girls in Turkana have limited access to healthcare services, including reproductive health services, due to a shortage of health facilities and trained health professionals. This results in a lack of access to contraceptives, family planning services, and maternal health services.

2. Harmful cultural practices: Some cultural practices in Turkana, such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and early marriage, have negative impacts on women and girls’ reproductive health. These practices result in high rates of maternal and infant mortality, as well as long-term health consequences such as fistula.

3. Gender-based violence: Women and girls in Turkana are at high risk of gender-based violence, including sexual violence, which has negative impacts on their mental and physical health.

4. Limited education: Many girls in Turkana do not have access to education, which limits their knowledge and understanding of SRHR and their ability to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

5. Limited economic opportunities: Women and girls in Turkana have limited economic opportunities, which can impact their ability to access healthcare services and make decisions about their reproductive health.

These challenges have significant negative impacts on the health, wellbeing, and future prospects of women and girls in Turkana, and there is a need for advocacy and intervention to address these issues and promote SRHR.
