GIZ is Germany's leading service provider of international cooperation since 2011. The federal enterprise supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and is also engaged in international education work around the globe. 

GIZ operates primarily on behalf of Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), but is also commissioned by other federal ministries, downstream agencies and state governments in Germany. The GIZ headquarters are located in Bonn and Eschborn.

With over 22,000 employees in around 120 countries, GIZ is offering a wide range of services to governments, companies, foundations, and institutions worldwide. Alongside its work for the German Government, the enterprise also accept contracts from international organizations and governments of other countries and facilitates worldwide partnerships. Its international clients include for example the European Union, UN agencies such as the World Health Organization, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

GIZ works worldwide on a broad range of issues, with the 2030 Agenda being their overarching guiding framework. Customized solutions to complex challenges and capacity development are GIZ key services, with an international main focus on vocational training, energy and climate, health, infrastructure and construction, water, and good governance. To its clients, GIZ provides support from drafting project concepts through to project implementations and final financial settlements and evaluations.

Currently, GIZ is supporting digital innovations for sustainable development and political participation in more than 200 international cooperation projects - Audiopedia is one of them.
