Hunger Reduction International (HRI) is a humanitarian relief and development organization working towards the alleviation of systemic hunger in all its forms in Somali communities.

HRI works in partnership and collaboration with local communities to develop holistic and sustainable solutions for alleviating local calorific inequities and malnutrition. Due to the multidimensional nature of hunger, our remit covers the redressal of gender inequality in Somali communities as well. Our focus on the twin areas of food security and gender equality at a local level allows us to present indigent communities with a pathway out of poverty.

Hunger Reduction International was founded on March 2011. It is registered with the Attorney General’s office and with the Ministry of National Planning and Coordination and Development (MNPD) under the NGO Law Act No. 43/2010 as a youth based nongovernmental and non-profit organization. Its registration number is MNPD/CD/37/1170/129/11. It is headquartered in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
